Phil has coached A-Grade for 17 seasons, following on from a playing career which began at Indians in the 1990/91 season. During his time there, Phil played for nine seasons with the Gold Coast Dolphins/Cougars in the original ABL.
After converting to a player-coach in his last eight seasons at Indians, Phil was honoured with the retirement of his jersey #20 at that club.
With almost 800 A-Grade games under his belt, last season Phil steered our youthful Division 1 team to a Top 3 finish, bowing out in Game 3 of the Preliminary Finals Series. This season, he'll be looking to take Padres one game further to our third top level Grand Final - and hopefully come away with the trophy!
Phil's leadership of our players has manifested itself also in our junior ranks; last season coaching Junior League sides at both club and regional levels - talk about “Philling” your weekend!
With Phil, we see the return of the three Overlack boys in our junior leagues with Mum, Stef, and little sister, Lily, back in the supporters' stands. Welcome back to Phil and the family, we're looking forward to another great season!
